The Cal (University of California Berkeley) Campus is one of my favorite photoshoot locations in the East San Francisco Bay Area! (See what I mean and check out a few of my other favorite locations here!) While a college campus might sound like a strange place to take photos, I tend to love them because of all the beautiful landscaping, architectural details, and varied backdrops. Plus they usually feel pretty safe and though there may be students walking around, other than graduation month, there usually aren’t a ton of other photographers fighting for the same backdrops (as can happen with some popular photo locations in San Francisco).
So you can imagine my excitement when Jenna and Bryan were up for taking their engagement photos on the UC Berkeley campus! Bryan is also a photographer, so he definitely understood the need for clean backdrops and leading lines to enhance their photos, and Jenna is a nursing instructor (I also work per diem as a critical care nurse), so we had a lot in common right away! Oh, and I didn’t even mention the fact that I helped photograph Bryan’s sister’s wedding the year before! I love it when I get to witness and photograph weddings for multiple members of the same family!
Enjoy their campus engagement photos with some of my favorite backdrops: the Hearst Memorial Mining Building, the Bancroft Library, and the Eucalyptus Grove!
