When Kerry and Travis reached out to me they told me they were “sold” once they saw a photo on my website home page with a couple holding disco balls in front of their faces (they’re talking about this engagement session). Of course I was quickly sold on them as well! Kerry enjoys books and is more of an introvert, while Travis loves sparkle and is very much an extroverted people person. Travis actually jokingly proposed to Kerry the night they met!
But the story of their love is much deeper than that. After almost 20 years together (with a lot of it spent apart), multiple doctorate degrees, and a feisty little pup, they finally got to have their wedding day this summer in a place that they spent time during the COVID pandemic years- Piedmont Park. (Wedding photos coming soon!)
Shortly before their wedding day we got together for a date night type engagement session where we wandered some of their favorite places around Berkeley. Of course we had to include a bookstore, so we started at Mrs Dalloway’s on College Ave (thanks so the owner for being so kind and letting us take photos in her shop!), then headed to the cafe next door (Baker & Commons) for a sweet treat at their yellow tables, followed by a walk down flower-filled streets to St Clements Church (Travis works in the Episcopal church), and a final wrap up at the most colorful mural on Ashby Ave in Berkeley (1038 Ashby Ave).
We had the absolute perfect evening for photos with sunny skies and a perfectly warm temperature (not always the case for summer in the Bay Area), and I really appreciated the time we got to spend together getting to know each other and talking about things that matter. Oh, and their dog Watson joined us too! Extra bonus! 🎉
Check out some of my favorite photos from their engagement session below and make sure you get to the end for all the colorful mural moments! I had to be careful not to get hit by a car since there’s a busy street right in front of it with little sidewalk. 😂 Totally worth it though!
