I literally changed my vacation plans so I could photograph Chiyomi and Andrew’s colorful citrus disco wedding this past fall! When I tell you that I nerd out over the details, it’s 100% true! The excitement I feel when I get to photograph colorful and fun celebrations with meaningful and whimsical details literally can’t be put into words. Then combine that with a sweet, kind, laid back, and fun couple, and it’s just next level! That’s why I do what I do, and that’s what this work is all about: connections with amazing people, meaningful moments, inspiring details, and thriving off the creative energy of it all!
Okay, so enough about me and on to Chiyomi and Andrew’s colorful citrus disco wedding! There were so many handmade and thoughtful details in this one. I particularly love the addition of fruit for the perfect pop of color, the bubble attendants in place of a flower girl/ring bearer, and how mini disco balls were incorporated into the flowers! The first look produced some of my favorite portraits since I was able to find a blue wall nearby that fit the wedding color scheme perfectly!
These two were up for all the fun and creative photos, so I made sure to bring my bubble machine and we incorporated it into their golden hour portraits. I use the term “golden hour” loosely since Half Moon Bay is often foggy and overcast, but we still made use of the even lighting after dinner and snuck in those fun photos.
Another highlight from their day was the flash mob on the dance floor during their reception! This was my second experience with a flash mob at a wedding reception and I love the energy it brings to the dance floor! I’m over here manifesting more flash mob wedding dances for 2024 😉
