Having my own San Francisco Bay Area photography studio (check it out here) has opened the door to more creative collaborations like this Winter Blues editorial photoshoot. Inspired by glitter, chrome, and metallic textures, this studio session leaned into rich blue and purple tones, moodier lighting than my usual style, and a playful mix of beauty portraits, creative editorial imagery, and styled product photography.
Of course we incorporated lots of blue (and purple) tones, but “blues” was also a play on mood, because the rainy and cold winter months can feel a bit depressing, so I wanted to amp them up with a bit of sparkle and play! The general idea was to take the heaviness of the winter season and translate it into something colorful, expressive, and full of visual energy. I think we succeeded! (And surprisingly we didn’t get glitter everywhere like you might expect 😆)
I love using studio projects like this to experiment with lighting, texture, and color while creating portraits and product imagery that feel both artistic and versatile. This photoshoot blends creative portrait photography, beauty work, and product-focused moments to show what’s possible in a studio setting when a team of creatives comes together to make something bold, thoughtful, and a little unexpected!
