May is celiac disease awareness month, so as someone with celiac disease for many years (you can read about my story here), I wanted to share my favorite tried and true gluten-free snacks, treats, and staples! Of course taste is very personal, so you may or may not love my favorites but at least it can give you a starting point if you’re on your own gluten-free journey. Check out my favorites in the different categories below!
Disclosure: I’m an Amazon affiliate, so I may receive a small commission if you make a purchase using some of the links below, but I only recommend products that I truly love and use in my own life! I appreciate your support! 🤗

Bread
Canyon Bakehouse Heritage Style Whole Grain Bread: The Heritage Style means actual bread size (yay!), not those tiny loaves that we usually get. This has been my go-to for years and it’s delicious! As always, gluten-free bread tastes a little better to me once it’s toasted a little, so don’t skip that step!
Canyon Bakehouse Heritage Style Honey White Bread: Similar to above but less hearty since it’s a white bread. I also buy this one pretty frequently!
BFree Stone Baked Pita Bread: When you get sick of regular bread I enjoy stuffing this pita with tuna salad! Again, I like to toast it a little first.
Bagels
Canyon Bakehouse Everything Bagel: The closest to the texture of a regular bagel. Though I’ve been gluten free for so many years that I don’t remember what regular bagels taste like, but my husband agrees and he’s not gluten free!
English Muffins
Food for Life Multi Seed English Muffins: these come out from the toaster harder and crunchier than the brand below, so it depends what you prefer.
Glutino English Muffins: softer and more like the texture of corn bread. Again, it depends what you prefer. I’ve been eating these a lot lately!
Crackers
Blue Diamond Almonds Nut Thins (Hint of Sea Salt): Almost like a rice cracker but a little heartier with more protein. Still a mild flavor.
Crunchmaster Original Multi-Seed Crackers: Crunchier and heartier than the above brand with a little more flavor. I use these for heartier/heavier dips because they stand up well.
Bars
Luna Bar Chocolate Peppermint Stick: The only bar I can eat over and over again. It’s almost like a chocolate peppermint rice crispy treat! So good!
Snacks
Kettle brand Salt & Fresh Ground Pepper chips: Loads of pepper make it a little spicier and the krinkle cut makes them crispier too!
Kettle brand Backyard Barbeque chips: More of a traditional chip style, but oh so good with the BBQ flavor! I have to be careful about how many of these I eat!
Vermont Smoke & Cure Turkey Pepperoni Sticks: An easy protein-filled snack for on the go!
Quinn Maple Almond Butter filled Pretzel Nuggets are simply amazing! Literally my favorite snack right now. The only problem is that I can eat the entire bag in one sitting, so make sure to order a few! 😉
Wraps
Siete Cassava Flour Wraps: Can be a little chewy but I actually like the texture and it means they hold up fairly well when filled like a burrito. I warm them in a pan on the stove with a tiny bit of oil. One minute on each side is enough to make them more pliable.
Cookies
Mariposa Baking Company Chocolate Chip Cookies: A local Oakland and San Francisco gluten-free bakery that’s been a staple for me for years! By far the best gluten-free chocolate chip cookie I’ve tasted! If you get it fresh from the shop it has a slightly crispy outside and a super soft inside. If you’re not local to the San Francisco Bay Area you can also order online from their shop and have them delivered!
Tate’s Bake Shop Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies: If you like a thin and crispy/crunchy chocolate chip cookie you’ll love these! Just make sure you get the gluten-free ones since they also make regular chocolate chip cookies. (Don’t worry, the gluten-free ones are made in a dedicated gluten-free facility!)
Pancake + Waffle Mix
Pamela’s Pancake & Baking Mix: This links to 2 bags because you’ll literally want that much! I’ve tried a LOT of pancake and waffle mixes and this one is by far the best in terms of flavor, texture, and how it holds up to baking. It makes delicious Belgian waffles, which we make almost every weekend that we’re home!
Chocolate (and choc chips)
Chocolove XOXO Hazelnuts in Milk Chocolate: The most delicious melt-in-your-mouth chocolate with a bit of crunchy hazelnuts. SO GOOD!
Chocolove XOXO Salted Caramel in Dark Chocolate: Super sweet and gooey caramel inside cut with a darker chocolate exterior. Divine! Basically most of their chocolate bars are delicious!
Enjoy Life Semi-Sweet Mega Chunks: We use these when baking, but honestly we just snack on them after dinner as well 😉 They’re great when you just want a few pieces of chocolate with a cup of hot mint tea.
Pizza
Freschetta 4 Cheese Pizza: Can’t go wrong with a great basic cheese pizza!
Milton’s Craft Bakers Cauliflower Crust Roasted Vegetable Pizza: A healthier option with a thin and really crispy crust.
Pasta
Jovial Brown Rice Capellini Pasta: Thin angel hair like pasta. Yum!
Manini’s Fresh Lemon Thyme Linguini: Fresh gluten free pasta? What a rare treat! It cooks super fast since it’s fresh and is made with hearty ancient grains.
Protein Drink/Meal Replacement
Kate Farms Standard 1.0 Chocolate: I use these on the go when I’m working a long day at a photoshoot or wedding and can’t necessarily sit down for a full meal. They’re plant based and made with organic ingredients, without common allergens or artificial flavors or colors. I prefer the chocolate flavor and think they taste best when cold!
Cookbook
I had to add a few other things you might appreciate in here like this amazing cookbook below!
Baked to Perfection: The only gluten free baking book you’ll ever need! It has everything from bread and crackers to desserts and more! The author combines her background in chemistry (she has a PhD!) with gluten-free baking to give you the science behind how to create perfect gluten-free baked goods. She includes things like how to get a muffin with a large top vs flat one, tricks for a gooier cookie, and other key tips! I’ve made a handful of recipes so far from this book and every single one is absolutely delicious; you’d never know they’re gluten-free! (FYI you’ll need a kitchen scale for this one and the measurements are in UK standards. Not a big deal!) The cinnamon buns are insanely good!
Lotion (body + hand)
Why am I talking about lotion? Well, for those of us with celiac disease, we have to worry about anything that can potentially come in contact with our GI system. So that includes anything that you could potentially put on your hands, especially if you eat with your hands afterward! So I make sure my lotions and lip care are all gluten free!
Everyone Lotion (unscented): A simple, unoffensive full body lotion
Essential Oils (EO) Intensive Repair Hand Cream (Orange Blossom Vanilla): This one is nice and thick to really hydrate dry hands, which I always seem to have! I like the subtle scent too.
Lip Care
This has been challenging for me because brands are changing their ingredients all the time but I’m currently loving this one from Mario Badescu. I use the original/unscented one and it keeps my lips soft all day!
