With the first day of fall today and our one year anniversary fast approaching, I thought it was about time that I share some photos from our wedding last year! It was such a whirlwind week for us (everyone says that because it’s so true), but I’m so glad that we have such great photos to look back on to remember the day! Thank you Katie!!
When we were first engaged and talking about wedding plans, Brandon and I both had the same vision for our wedding day: fall in the mountains. The Sierra Nevada mountains are our favorite place so we knew we’d be looking around that area for our wedding venue. And when we made our way over to The HideOut in the middle of a snowstorm we knew it was going to be the perfect spot even though it was practically snowed in! Its remote location (no cell service!), beautiful landscape, and large log homes with space for our families and friends to stay fit our vision of an intimate outdoor fall wedding. And when you book with The HideOut you get the whole property for the entire weekend or weekdays (bonus!). We ended up choosing the weekday (Mon-Thur) option for a few reasons: first of all it’s a LOT cheaper, and second we knew that we wanted to keep the guest list small and that people would have to travel to get to the wedding anyway, so why not? Who says you have to be married on a Saturday anyway? 🙂 Oh, and doesn’t 10.9.18 have a good ring to it? 10…9…8…that way we’ll be able to remember our anniversary-haha!
But in all seriousness, having a few extra days to hang out with the 35 guests we had at our wedding was the best decision ever! The wedding day itself came and went in a blur, so the day before and day after were key for getting to actually relax and connect with our friends and family. And while we could have easily had snow since it was early October in the mountains, we had a lovely chilly but sunny fall day and were able to eat dinner under the twinkle lights in the trees. It was such a powerful week that as we were leaving on Friday morning I stood on the porch overlooking the lake and cried happy tears. I’ve never felt so overwhelmed with love and emotion!
So in honor of our one year anniversary and the start of crisp evenings, cozy sweaters, and orange color palettes, here are some of our favorite wedding photos!
Thank you so much to all of our friends and family who made the journey to celebrate with us, and our wonderful vendors (“friendors”)! We couldn’t have had such an amazing celebration without you!
