A Celebration of Love + Family at Comal in Berkeley, California

Events, photography

Looking at back at all the different people and things that I’ve had the pleasure of photographing over the last two years, I realize that I’ve really grown to enjoy photographing events! They’re a great combination of candid/fly-on-the-wall type of photography, posed photos, and detail shots. There’s so much opportunity to capture real emotions as guests interact with each other, and to create a story with the beautiful details of the night. I often see it as a personal challenge to get candid photos of each guest before they even notice that I’m there. And I literally smile the entire time! That’s how I know that I’m really having fun!

This party was held at the restaurant Comal in Berkeley, California, and was hosted by the sweetest couple, Abby and Aditya, as a coming together of their extended families for the first time to celebrate their wedding. The most important thing for them was that I capture the joy of the evening and two families and cultures coming together. It was truly a vibrant and joyful event, and I absolutely loved how they combined both Indian and Jewish traditional dances on the dance floor, and how so many of the details and decor were handmade by friends and family. Maybe it sounds cheesy, but in a world that feels so divided lately, it literally made my soul happy to see different cultures and people coming together to celebrate love, family, and friendship!

Scroll on to fill your soul with a little happiness too! đŸ™‚

Abby + Aditya: Thank you so much for allowing me to capture this beautiful moment in your lives and to celebrate with you all! May you always be surrounded with as much love and joy as you were on this night! All the best to you and your friends and families!

See another vibrant celebration of love and family here!
