I loved the variety that we were able to capture in this lifestyle and branding photoshoot for professional musician (bassoonist) and teacher, Lynn Hileman. For her photoshoot she wanted to incorporate a bit of her personality and other aspects of her life and training such as meditation, her coffee making ritual, and reading/studying. She also makes her own reeds and teaches other musicians, so she brought all her supplies and we recruited another bassoonist to re-create a personal lesson in a studio!
It was also important that we capture a modern headshot with her bassoon; something that’s not entirely easy to do given the size and structure of the instrument! I enjoyed the challenge, though, and I love how we were able to collaborate on a comprehensive shot list ahead of time, and plan out props, outfits, and shots for each location. It’s so important to go into a photoshoot like this feeling prepared, which is why we nail down everything that we want to accomplish ahead of time on a shared Google doc, and then leave a little bit of room for play and creativity in the moment. We covered so much ground in her 4 hour photoshoot!
