When Shannon first inquired with me about wedding photography, I immediately fell in love with her vibrant and welcoming personality! This inquiry was super special to me because Shannon is also a wedding photographer (you have to check out her beautiful work!), and we have a handful of random connections in the photography world as well!
I remember specifically during our video call that Shannon said she likes a “wild and free” feeling in her photos (I also believe “confetti everywhere” was mentioned!), and her fiancĂ©, Joel, said that he likes more portraits and an “intimate & timeless” feeling. I love that I got to capture both of these feelings for them on their wedding day!
They were married on a beautiful summer day at Shannon’s uncle’s house, and let me tell you, this house felt like it was made for weddings! From the show-stopping tree that was their ceremony backdrop, to the lush backyard with a turquoise pool and alllll the tropical plants, it was absolutely breathtaking! The carefully planned wedding details and stunning pops of color from florals and Spanish style tiles at each place setting truly enhanced the already beautiful backdrop!

There were so many special moments that stood out from their day:
—
The personalized details that Joel wore that Shannon gifted to him, like his cufflinks that alluded to his love of cars, the socks with a photo of their dog Churro on them, and the watch that he had been eyeing and now wears on date nights.
—
The Hawaiian jewelry from Shannon’s late grandmother, who after she met Joel only once said, “Joel is warmth and kindness, and someone as special as you deserve.” She must have known that it was meant to be!
—
The heartfelt vows that they exchanged during their first look and the emotion and love that was evident in that intimate moment.
—
The flower girl that stopped to shower each guest with bubbles as she walked down the aisle.
—
The bud/floral vases that they spent time collecting over quarantine and hand painted in their backyard, and the vibrant flowers that adorned them.
—
The way they showed their feelings for each other in the little moments, like when I caught them holding hands under the table during toasts.
—
The look on Joel’s face during the mother/son dance.
—
The personalized cocktails and “Churro shot” (shot of tequila) that was named after their dog (and was a big hit, by the way!).
—
Joel’s party shoes that he changed into during the reception. He bought them a decade ago and saved them just for his wedding day!
—
And the high energy crew that lit up the dance floor!
—
I seriously could go on forever about this one, but I’ll let you keep scrolling and live through the day in photos instead!
Shannon + Joel: I cannot thank you enough for trusting me with capturing your wedding day! The time and energy that you put into your day was so evident, and every detail told a story of your relationship and your love. I was so honored to have been a witness to the start of your marriage! Wishing you so many years of happiness and adventures!
